Drug Resistance in Tuberculosis Granulomas

- Mentor: Dr. Elsje Piennar

This project aims to use Markov chain simulations to predict the probability of pre-treatment drug resistance emergence within a tuberculosis patient. This will allow us to quantify the contribution of multiple independent granulomas and variability between granulomas to the overall probability of having pre-existing resistant bacteria before treatment.

Optimization Driven Biological Analysis

February 2018 - May 2019

Identification of differentially expressed genes simultaneously across Herpes Simplex, Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease

- Mentor: Prof. Mauricio Cabrera

Simultaneously analyzed conditions to detect genetic commonalities and differences using a novel approach based on mathematical optimization.
